About Me
Me at Notre Dame in Paris
My name is Melanie Hosbach Sesi and I am a Social Studies teacher at the Frankel Jewish Academy of Metropolitan Detroit. I was the Varsity Volleyball coach at FJA and helped coach the volleyball team for the Detroit delegation to the 2013 and 2014 JCC Maccabi games. I previously taught at Lapeer Community High School in Lapeer, MI. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in May 2005 with a major in Interdisciplinary Social Science and a minor in Political Science.
After a year of student teaching at Troy Athens High School in Troy, MI, I was hired at LCHS in June 2006, then accepted an offer at FJA in June 2011. In my career so far, I have taught Civics, Economics, US History, World History, Street Law and Current Issues. I consider myself a lifelong Spartan and recently graduated once again from MSU, this time with a Master of Arts in Educational Technology in May 2011. This portfolio serves as a capstone of my experiences in MSU's MAET program.
I was born and raised in Rochester Hills, MI and currently have a home there with my husband Lance and our two children and dog. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, traveling, music, and cheering on my Spartans and all 4 Detroit sports teams. I have also taken up an interest in photography. I love being able to integrate this new hobby with my love of travel, especially to historical places (as seen in the photos throughout this site).
